Fibrous Carbs: Your Food for Flat Abs

Fibrous carbs are some of your best food choices if you are trying to lose belly fat. These are a part of one of the broad categories of carbohydrates known as complex carbohydrates, also known as polysaccharides. The other broad category of carbohydrates is the simple carbohydrates.

Simple carbohydrates should be kept to a minimum if you are building abs. Also known as monosaccharides, they offer few of the benefits you gain from fibrous carbs. A belly fat diet will always be devastated when these are consumed excessively.

The real problem with simple carbs is that they cause a rapid rise in blood sugar which causes an over production of insulin. The insulin quickly clears the glucose in the bloodstream and that results in a hypoglycemic state (too low blood sugar). This results in cravings and hunger that leads to more eating. The vicious cycle continues resulting in fat being deposited and energy being depleted.
